Patricks_mugUNDER THE WATERFALL: Patrick ButlerToday is Yom Kippur, the culmination of the 10-day celebration of Rosh Hashanah. Yom Kippur is the Jewish Day of Atonement. It is a time all could learn from.

I don't usually do this, but a YouTube music video called “Dip Your Apple “ by a group of Jewish artists, Ein Prat Fountainheads, is so refreshingly compelling, convincing and fun, fun, fun, I can't resist passing on the link.

The joyous and yet meaningful lyrics, written below, and set as a musical parody to Shakira's popular “Waka Waka” melody, says it all and better than I could.

Using Hebrew and English while pulling on concepts deeply embedded in ideas of forgiveness, restoration, joy, happiness, a sweet life, purity and salvation — all is accomplished in 3:13 seconds! Kudos to the young kids at Ein Prat, Fountainheads for pulling this off. It's a treasure.

If you don't "Believe in Magic," as the Lovin' Spoonful sang about 40 years ago, you might find an alternative after hearing "Dip Your Apple," by FountainHeads a reference to the Rosh Hashanah practice of eating apples and honey — a sweet new year.

And if you aren't “bopping” a bit after hearing this, you're dead. Wake up! That's what Yom Kippur is all about. Shana Tova, Umetuka — A Sweet and Happy New Year!

Dip Your Apple By Fountainheads

Tekiyah... Shvarim Truah
Tekiyah... Shvarim Truah (shofar sounds)

A new year rising,
A,  new beginning

Lift your head up
, Turn yourself 'round,
The world is spinning

Feel the magic

Of a new day

Open your heart
 To a fresh start

Send your fears away

You've made mistakes
You feel it

You got what it takes,
Believe it

Just forgive, you need not fight
